The 17th-century painter Jan Steen was born in Leiden, but lived and worked in Warmond for a number of years. His works are world-famous for their humorous and ironic view of life. The Dutch expressions 'a Jan Steen household' and 'bringing life to the brewery' say it all about his style: different, a bit naughty and cheerful.
