Would you like to go for a walk in the woods? You can walk through the Keukenhof woods via the hiking junctions. The woods used to be part of the Keukenhof estate. Now you can walk along leafy paths and lanes. Take a look upwards. In the old trees, long-eared owls can be seen napping between the branches during the day.
The Keukenhof woods are a varied and hilly woodland area with beech, oak and coniferous trees. Woodpeckers, owls, tits and pigeons nest in the hollows of the trees. In spring, blue herons make large nests in the tops of the pine trees.
From the forest you can walk straight to the estate of Keukenhof Castle. For the little visitors there is a nice gnome walk (750 metres long) to make. There are 16 different gnome poles scattered around the estate. The route starts at the large gnome next to the playground. Please bear in mind that some paths are difficult to walk with a pram.
