Cycling around the region
On your bike you will experience how beautiful Hillegom and its environment really is. The bicycle routes around Hillegom will take you in spring (end of March till the beginning of May) along the many colourful bulb-fields. The whole year round you can enjoy the polder landscape, the woods and the beautiful dunes at the coast.
In addition, there are beautiful and varied routes along country estates, past farmers and growers and to the lively cities of Haarlem and Leiden with many nice shops, terraces, well-known museums and monumental old buildings.

The Bollenstreek walking and hiking network will take you through this beautiful region. The routes largely follow paved paths but also go across embankments, meadows and bulb fields. Nature is close by, you'll see plants and flowers and hear the birds sing. To give you a helping hand, there are land crossings and footbridges. Adventurous towing bridges take care of the crossing in a number of places.
At several starting points and along the routes, there are panels with the route maps, junctions and information about the area. Along the way, posts show you the way from junction to junction. In this way, a total of 100 kilometres of signposted walking routes have been created.
