Little square at the Pump
Already in the 17th century, the little square was a lively village centre, where people came together for fun and entertainment and where weary travellers could find shelter in one of the three inns. Jan Steen, for instance, will probably have enjoyed large mugs of beer here, together with his friends of the rhetoricians, during his Warmond years.
The hardstone pump from 1871 was intended as a source of drinking water, but by 1904 it was no longer suitable for that purpose.
