Ferry Zijlpont
From 1 April to 1 October, you can cross river the Zijl with this ferry for pedestrians and cyclists. It sails back and forth between Kagerzoom (Merenwijk) and Zijldijk (Boterhuispolder).
The Boterhuispolder, on the other side of the Kagerplassen, is also Warmond territory. If you want to go to the starting island on the Kaag, visit the Waterlust club, do some shopping in one of the farm shops or just enjoy the fresh air in this old polder, you can cross the river Zijl by ferry as an extra attraction. Even if you are making a longer cycle tour around the Kagerplassen, a crossing is often on your route.
Are you outside the sailing season? Then walk or cycle via the Zijlbrug to the south, across Leiden's Willem de Zwijgerlaan. You will then add two more municipalities to your route: you will return to Warmond via Leiden and Leiderdorp.
